A market in the middle of the forest is definitely a good idea.
Add to that local craftspeople, live music, good food and hopefully a bit of September sunshine, and we're in.
On Sunday, September 20th, Zoomers aan het Bos in Bakkum is hosting its autumn market. From 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, there will be stalls of local craftspeople, music, and a children's club.
And the entrance?
Simply free.
Not your average market
The autumn market is organized by Zoomers together with Roots Market.
Here you'll find handcrafted products, unique jewelry, sustainable home accessories, and other items from local producers. The focus is on products with a story.
So it's not the kind of market where, after the seventh stall, you think you've already seen the same phone cases three stalls back.
And what if you've had enough?
You are currently on the edge of the North Holland dune reserve.
We would use that.
Homemade lemonade – and no, this isn't a stall.
There will be live music between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
Homemade Lemonade usually consists of singer Sylvia and guitarist Bart, both based in Heemskerk. They play well-known and lesser-known music from various decades in an acoustic style.
Especially for the autumn market, Jordy will accompany us on the cajon.
So yes, homemade lemonade this afternoon consists only of the three of us.
We won't make a complicated calculation out of it.
Would you like to bring your children? No problem.
They took that into account as well.
During the fair, there is a children's club on the grounds. This means you don't necessarily have to choose between spending an afternoon browsing the stalls or doing something that children can participate in more or less voluntarily.
And after that, you can of course go into the forest.
Or somewhere to eat and drink.
Or both.
It's Sunday. We don't need to be so efficient.

The autumn market is not a one-off event. In 2026, Zoomers is organizing three forest markets: a spring market on March 22nd, a summer market on June 21st, and this autumn edition on September 20th.
Each edition features different live music. Jacky's Choice played in March, Silverlining in June, and Homemade Lemonade will be performing as part of the autumn festival.
Homemade Lemonade comes from Heemskerk. The duo consists of Sylvia and Bart and will be supported this afternoon by Jordy on the cajon.
The music doesn't start until 1 p.m., but the market opens at 11 a.m. If you'd like to visit both, you can stroll around the stalls at your leisure before the music begins.
