Did you know that the Uitgeest landscape is full of hidden history? Every fourth Sunday of the month, from April to September , the Oer-IJ Foundation takes you on a journey of discovery along the banks, polders, and old dikes that shape Uitgeest's history. Starting point is the Oude Regthuys in the Kerkbuurt—a symbolic place for a journey through time.
During the hike, a guide will tell you how this special landscape came into being and how humans have inhabited and transformed it over the centuries. You'll hike through areas you may be familiar with, but which you'll see with completely different eyes after this excursion.
Next dates in 2025:
Sunday, July 27, 2025 (West Side)
Sunday, August 24, 2025 (East Side)
Sunday, September 21, 2025 (West Side)
In even months you hike on the west side of the village, in odd months on the east side.
