Some things are simply part of spring.
Light that lasts longer.
Jackets that can be opened.
And the Four Days Marches.
Shoes on, stamp book in hand and running the same route four evenings in a row – and still having fun every time.
What is the Uitgeest Four Day Evening Walk?
From Tuesday, April 14th, to Friday, April 17th, Playground Kindervreugd will host the 63rd edition of the Avondvierdaagse in Uitgeest.
You can choose between a 5 or 10 kilometer hike. For four evenings, you'll hike through and around the village, each evening with music. And of course, you'll receive a medal afterward – because that's exactly why we're all secretly here.
Previous editions sold out, so registering in good time is not an unnecessary luxury.
Why this is more than "just going for a walk"
The Four Day Marches are not just about sport.
It's also nostalgia. And a little bit of muscle soreness.
You can see how classmates stick together. Parents who, in the middle of it all, ask themselves: "Why did I ever agree to that?" And grandparents who stand proudly on the sidelines.
And at some point along this path, you suddenly start looking at your own village with different eyes.

5 surprising facts about the Four Day Marches
The first evening feels like a sporting event. The third evening feels like a group project you can't get out of.
My grandma always sewed me a hat and attached lots of candies to the brim with yarn. They dangled from my head with every step. I thought it was great. Today I wonder: How could that ever have been a good idea?
Half an orange with a peppermint candy inside, wrapped in a handkerchief so you could lick it while walking. At ten years old, I thought that was brilliant. Today, I find it a bit creepy.
Everyone says it's about movement. But honestly? It's just about moving around with music and applause.
After four evenings of walking, this medal feels like Olympic gold. Even if your pace was more "pleasant" than "athletic".
