A small idea with a big story behind it

Sometimes the best ideas just come naturally.

While we were tinkering and tinkering with the houses, we paused to think about something very simple: a glass of tap water. So obvious perhaps, but actually something very special.

That's why we provide our guests with glass water bottles. No plastic, no hassle. Just cool, fresh tap water. And this water has a little story to tell.

Water forging its way through the dunes

The drinking water that comes out of our taps is largely purified naturally in the dunes near Castricum and the surrounding area. In these dune regions, nature plays a crucial role in the purification process.

Pre-treated water is slowly filtered through layers of sand and dunes. No rush, no drastic measures, just time and nature working their magic. The dune sand acts as a natural filter, gradually purifying the water.

The place where the water becomes visible again

In some places in the dune area, the water is rising to the surface again. You can see round shapes in the water where it is gently rising.

Colloquially, these areas are sometimes jokingly referred to as "blobs" or "jellyfish" due to their shape. These are not official terms, but they belong to the so-called infiltration areas: places where water becomes visible again after seeping through the dune sand.

The water that rises here has already been filtered through dune layers several meters thick. Clear, clean, and pure.

Clear water, right to the core.

Anyone who has ever crossed this area will recognize it immediately. In the right light, you can see the ground through the water. The plants sway gently in the water; everything moves at a leisurely pace.

This is the water that ultimately comes out of our tap.

Why we are happy to share this

It seems very logical to us to tell this story, especially for guests from abroad who don't always know that tap water in the Netherlands is not only safe to drink, but also really delicious.

That's why the bottles are filled in the refrigerator. Fresh and ready to serve. A small gesture, but one carried out with care.

Simple, but with care

What seems perfectly normal to us often turns out to be something special. And that's exactly what we love: showing that comfort doesn't always have to be ostentatious.

Sometimes it lies in a glass of water, a good story, and a place where everything simply makes sense.
