More than a hundred illuminated market stalls.
Old motorcycles and mopeds.
A street full of classic cars.
Three days of live music.
And somewhere in between, people who probably have their quiff in better order than we have our entire lives.
From Friday, September 3 to Sunday, September 5, 2027, it is time again for the Akercity Rock 'n Roll Weekend in Akersloot. For three days, the Wilhelminaplein will be all about rock 'n' roll, classic vehicles, dancing, food, and above all, a whole lot of excitement.
This isn't one of those events you walk through for half an hour and then think: well, that's over and done with.
You can easily come back here three times.
Friday: more than 100 stalls and the party tent in
On Friday, the weekend kicks off with the Rock 'n Roll Fair.
And with more than 100 illuminated stalls, we can safely leave the word "small market" out of it here.
From 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, you can browse through clothing, treats, trinkets, and all sorts of other items you probably didn't know you needed until you saw them.
The party tent opens on Friday at 4:00 PM and remains open until 1:00 AM. Various bands and DJs will play there throughout the weekend. The line-up for 2027 will be announced later.
Saturday: old motorcycles, mopeds and a dance floor
On Saturday, the four wheels will be traded for two.
Well, just a little while longer.
From 10:30 AM, vintage motorcycles and mopeds will depart for a tour ride. From 12:00 PM, the two-wheelers will be lined up for the show, followed by the awards ceremony at 4:00 PM and the parade at 5:00 PM.
And because just looking at old mopeds is apparently not enough entertainment, a dance show by Swingalong.nl is also scheduled for around 4:00 PM.
In addition, there will be a special dance floor.
So, if you have always thought that your rock 'n' roll moves fail mainly because of the surface: this is your chance.
Sunday: the classic cars take over Akersloot
On Sunday, it is the cars' turn.
The tour starts at 10:30 AM, and from 12:00 PM, the classic cars will be displayed around the marquee.
Later in the afternoon, a jury selects the most beautiful specimens. The awards ceremony is at 4:00 PM, and the parade follows at 5:00 PM.
And that seems to us to be exactly the moment when you want to be standing on the sidelines.
The party tent remains open until midnight on Sunday, so no one has to go home immediately after the last shiny mudguard.
And meanwhile: music
That runs like a common thread through the entire weekend.
The organization is once again announcing local bands, Dutch bands, and artists from abroad for 2027. Exactly who will be performing is not yet known at this moment.
And so we'll just leave it like that.

5 things you might not have known
On Friday, there are not just a few stalls around the square, but more than 100 illuminated stalls. The annual market lasts from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Neither the motorcycles on Saturday nor the classic cars on Sunday stand still gleaming all day. On both days, a tour ride begins at 10:30 AM.
The weekend has a special dance floor. No more excuses to blame your lack of rhythm on the cobblestones.
The music does not come solely from the local area. For 2027, the organization is also announcing bands from the rest of the Netherlands as well as artists from abroad. Who these will be will be announced later.
Since 2026, Akercity Rock 'n Roll has been part of Akersloot United. This association brings together residents, entrepreneurs, volunteers, and local initiatives to keep these kinds of village traditions alive, among other things.

A day walking among classic cars and motorcycles, into the party tent, and then driving home?
Can.
But it's more fun to just make a weekend of it.
