Imagine: An August morning, the sun gently shining through the trees in Captain Rommel's garden. Children's feet graze undisturbed across the grass, past signs telling of stick insects, millipedes, giant snails, and butterflies. The Animal Trail, running from Wednesday, August 20, to Friday, August 22, focuses on nature—accessible, playful, and full of wonder.
What you can expect:
Wednesday, August 20
The garden opens at 9:30 a.m. Everyone streams in, children searching for creepy paws and tiny wings. Some might even dare to let a millipede crawl onto their hand...
Thursday, August 21
The sun plays through the leaves, butterflies flutter around, and excited whispers can be heard at every information point. A child asks, "May I hold the snail again?"
Friday, August 22
It's the last day, and you can feel it. Insect bingo is in full swing, there's lemonade and treats, and the experience ends with gentle footsteps through the grass—maybe even a salamander or a caterpillar along the path.
Why this is so special
Because it's small, simple, and precisely for that reason so beautiful. For an entire morning, children can explore, feel, ask questions, and learn freely – without it feeling like school. Parents accompany them on the walk, drink coffee, and sometimes even sneak in themselves. And if you look closely, you'll discover: even the smallest creatures make a big impression.

Tip from me
Put on old shoes, bring a magnifying glass, and, above all, let yourself drift at a child's pace. Pause to observe a beetle, listen to the rustling in the bushes, and forget about the clock for a moment. These are the mornings you'll remember.
