Deep down, you just want to get a glimpse into how an artist lives, works, and creates things 😄

During the art festival in Limmen, you can stroll or cycle past studios, backyards, and creative spaces where artists present their work. And it's anything but just "a few paintings on the wall."

From narrative photography to activist painting, interactive art, ceramics, jewelry and woodwork – everywhere you go you encounter something completely new.

And perhaps that's even the best part: you never know exactly what you'll find behind the next door, the next shed, or the next garden.

What is art in Limmen?

Art in Limmen is not a silent gallery where you shuffle past white walls whispering.

The constant switching between studios, apartments, and gardens is precisely what makes it so appealing. Wherever you go, you enter a completely different world.

In one place someone is enthusiastically discussing ceramics, while elsewhere you suddenly come across photographs, bronze sculptures or interactive art.

And quite honestly? It is precisely this unpredictability that makes such routes so appealing.

Not only the art itself, but also the feeling of being able to take a look behind the scenes everywhere.

5 things you might not know

  • One of the artists paints despite being colorblind – and therefore uses completely different color combinations than most people would choose.

  • Some artists along this route literally open their own backyard or studio to visitors.

  • You'll probably think at least once while you're out: "That would look really good at home" 😄

  • Not everything is "beautiful art for above the sofa" – this also includes activist and interactive art.

  • This is typically the kind of event where you think you're only going for "an hour"... and end up finding three gardens, two studios, and a ceramics obsession later 😄
