Some Thursday evenings need to be planned months in advance.
And some people simply start like this: Shall we go to the pub?
On Thursday, September 17th, De Kroeg Huisband will be ready for "Sfeer aan het Meer". No big festival, no complicated program. Just live music from Uitgeestermeer, a drink, and a group of musicians who most certainly didn't pick up a guitar for the first time yesterday.
The pub opens at 7:45 pm. The music starts at 8:00 pm.
The house band has already covered several kilometers.
Herman Schoone, along with Cyril Wijte, Florens de Graaf and Nico de Graaf, will take the lead in the first part of the evening.
These names are quite common in the music scene of Uitgeest, Castricum, and the surrounding area. Herman, Florens, Nico, and Cyril, for example, also play in the Ballads & Blues Band. There, Herman sings and plays guitar and harmonica, Florens sings and plays guitar, Nico does the same but also plays slide guitar, and Cyril plays bass.
And no, despite the name, they don't just play blues, which requires a very serious expression.
This includes fast-paced songs and excursions into other genres.
That saves a lot of trouble.
And it will get even more crowded after the break.
After the break, it's Bloes Broers & Friends' turn.
This band didn't just form last month at a birthday party either. The Bloes Broers have been playing together for decades in various lineups, and the brothers Hans and Herman Schoone are the common thread.
Furthermore, over the years they have gathered a considerable group of musical friends around them who regularly play with them.
And that's exactly the idea.
Not every performance has to sound exactly the same. According to the band themselves, the changing musicians during live performances create unexpected twists and turns – sometimes even for themselves.
That sounds much more entertaining to us than a setlist that's been wrapped in plastic since 1989.

Bloes Broers have existed for almost forty years and have played in all sorts of lineups during that time.
Hans and Herman Schoone are indeed brothers. Hans plays bass; Herman plays guitar, harmonica, and sings.
Herman, Florens, Nico, and Cyril also play together in the Ballads & Blues Band. This band consists of five musicians; drummer and singer Ruud van der Klooster completes the lineup.
The Bloes Broers deliberately don't limit themselves to well-known blues classics. Instead, they look for pieces that still bring them joy. Slow blues is a favorite, but swinging numbers work just as well.
The "friends" behind Bloes Broers & Friends are not a marketing gimmick. Over the years, the band has actually built up a group of musician friends who regularly contribute – which sometimes leads to a performance taking an unexpected turn, even for the band itself.
