You drive onto the estate in the dark.

Lanterns and burning torches will guide you to Château Marquette.

A welcome drink awaits you inside.

That's it for today.

Because during Halloween at the castle, you are certainly not the only guest wandering through the castle.

On Saturday, October 24th, Château Marquette in Heemskerk will be transformed into a Halloween setting for one evening. A three-course meal, unexpected guests, and surprises will be offered, the exact details of which the organizers are deliberately keeping secret.

And it seems to us that this last point is precisely the intended purpose.

Halloween in a place that needs no decoration

Of course, you can hold a Halloween party anywhere.

However, a castle on an old estate already has a considerable advantage.

You arrive at Marquette Estate in the dark and are led to the castle by lanterns and torches. Inside, you are first served an eerie welcome drink before being seated at your table.

And this is just the beginning.

Three courses with a dark touch

In the evening, a three-course meal is served, and according to Marquette, the food also has a dark note.

The organization is still keeping secret what exactly will be discussed.

This is indeed true for a large part of the evening. During the meal, extraordinary figures appear at unexpected moments. And Marquette himself warns in advance that one should by no means feel safe once seated at the table.

Pleasant.

We're taking Bo with us.

No Halloween party with a plastic spider on the ceiling.

And that's exactly why we like this calendar so much for our event calendar.

It's not an evening where someone places three pumpkins at the entrance and then decides that the theme has been sufficiently explored.

The arrival via the dark estate, the torches, the historic castle, the dinner and the surprise performances are all part of the evening program.

So you're not going out to eat alone.

For a few hours, you will immerse yourself in a completely decorated Halloween world.

5 things you might have preferred to know only after dinner.

  1. In 1358, the inhabitants endured an eleven-week siege. When food ran out, their fighting spirit apparently waned as well.

  2. The castle was plundered and completely destroyed in 1426. Historically speaking, Halloween is therefore still a relatively quiet evening here.

  3. Near Marquette, the former inhabitants still rest in the graves beneath the village church. At least, they never moved far away.

  4. During archaeological excavations, burnt bones were found diagonally opposite the entrance. They probably won't mention that over the welcome drink.

  5. During the Second World War, the Germans occupied the castle, which was subsequently shelled several times by the Allies. And now we will voluntarily eat dinner there in the dark.
