Limmer Fair Cup: The whole of Limmer becomes one giant playing field | Saturday, September 12, 2026

Forty teams.
Maximum eight people per team.
And an entire village that has to find out who is actually the strongest, fastest, and smartest.
That sounds a bit like someone shouting on Friday evening: "Do you know what else we have to do during the fair?"
And then nobody could stop him.
The third edition of the Limmer Kermiscup will take place on Saturday, September 12th. Starting at 1:30 pm, the teams will make their way through Limmen and experience an afternoon full of games, challenges and competitions.
And the best part is: Not a single sports field was cordoned off anywhere.
Limmen *is* the playing field.
From the park to the town and back again
It begins at 1:30 pm with a joint opening match in Heeren van Limmen.
From 2 PM onwards, the teams will spread out throughout the village. The activities will take place in Vuurbaak Park, Stet, Heeren van Limmen, EetBarLekker and Kerkplein.
And don't expect challenges where the person with the biggest muscles automatically wins.
The organization combines strength, agility, and intelligence. A mixed team is even explicitly recommended.
In other words: Is there that one friend who knows everything in a pub quiz, but suddenly has an old back injury when he lifts a case of beer?
Finally useful.
Of course, a trophy must be won.
Because running the entire way through Limmen just for the honor is something completely different.
The teams are competing for the challenge trophy: the cup with the big ears.
The final team activities are scheduled for 4:30 pm, followed by a joint closing event at 5:00 pm.
After that, the program becomes significantly less sporty.
At 6:00 PM: Barbecue.
At 7:00 PM: Award ceremony.
And then?
Just.
They simply included it as the last item in the official schedule. We have little to add to that.
It's fun even if you don't participate yourself.
Of course, you don't need to be there from the very beginning with seven die-hard friends to understand that.
Precisely because the activities take place all over Limmen and the Kermiscup is part of the fair weekend, we think it would also be fun to simply go and take a look.
I walked around a bit.
Watching others sweat.
And then I went to the fair myself.
We see few disadvantages.
Practical and good to know

5 things you might not know
This is only the third Kermiscup. After the 2024 and 2025 editions, the event will take place for the third time in 2026.
With a maximum of 40 teams, each with up to 8 participants, up to 320 people can compete simultaneously.
The games aren't simply off-the-shelf events from an event agency. The Kermiscup was created by entrepreneurs from Limmer, and the challenges are also conceived and developed locally.
The results from 2024 prove that in Limmen, they put at least as much thought into their team name as they do into the race itself. Among others, teams like Niet Goed, Wel Gezellig, Het moet van Maarten, Oost west thuis poept het best, and 6 bier en 1 fanta were at the starting line that year.
And who won the first edition? JKG Limmen with 404 points. Why only eight points behind? Apparently, despite all the fun, there's a pretty serious competition going on.
Enjoy the fair and then return to Uitgeest.
This is exactly the kind of event where, in our opinion, you don't have to go home after the awards ceremony.
Watch the Kermiscup in the afternoon, stay a little longer for the fair and just make it a whole weekend.
From our holiday homes in Uitgeest, you can reach Limmen in no time. And the next morning you'll have plenty of time to wake up in peace and consider whether you could put together such a team with seven friends next year.
So you can come up with a team name.
