So far... and a little further: Thijs Kemperink on Saturday, May 2, 2026

Do you know that feeling when everything gets a bit too much, but you still have to laugh? Saturday evening, May 2nd, 2026, is perfect for moments like these. Thijs Kemperink presents his new cabaret show "Driven to the Limit" at the Dorpshuis de Zwaan.

An evening where heavy topics become light and light topics become heavy, and you especially notice that laughter is sometimes the best outlet.

Laughter bordering on decency

In his new show, Thijs Kemperink takes you to the fringes of our society. To a world where common sense is increasingly giving way to something... less healthy. He speaks openly about his fears, frustrations, and moments when he wishes he hadn't known himself so well.

He recently came close to taking matters into his own hands. That he didn't let it come to that was mainly due to his clumsiness. With plenty of self-deprecating humor, astute observations, and the down-to-earth nature typical of Twente, Thijs poses the crucial question: How can we ensure we have more patience with each other before we all reach our limits?

This is cabaret that annoys, relaxes, and makes you think while you laugh.

May I introduce myself?

Thijs Kemperink comes from Twente and first appeared on stage as a stand-up comedian at the age of 25. He enjoyed it so much that he has since written and performed several full-length shows. He is also part of the ensemble of the Twente Year-End Conference and has already performed with André Manuel and Ernest Beuving in the show "Goeie Tukkers zijn geen Mtherfuckers"*.

With his authentic personality and witty anecdotes from everyday life, he won over city after city and village after village. He describes an evening with Thijs like this: hearty laughter, exploring and sometimes even crossing boundaries – all in a fantastic theatrical show.

5 funny, personal and somewhat cheeky facts about Thijs Kemperink

  1. He can analyze anger, but he cannot act on it. Vigilante justice usually fails in the planning phase.

  2. His humor is typical of Twente: dry, direct, and straightforward. No beating around the bush, no embellishments. You hear what he thinks.

  3. He likes to present serious topics in a somewhat lighthearted way. And sometimes light topics can be uncomfortably heavy. That's precisely what makes it so entertaining.

  4. Patience is a recurring theme – especially the lack thereof. Patience towards oneself and towards the rest of the world.

  5. You laugh first, think later. And sometimes, in the middle of it all, you think: Ouch... that applies to me a little bit too.
